Lisa Pesce’s battle with cancer began during the COVID-19 pandemic when a routine mammogram and biopsy revealed breast cancer. Testing positive for the BRCA gene, she underwent a grueling 10-hour surgery to remove her breasts and ovaries, forcing her into early menopause. Within just two weeks, she endured three surgeries.
Her pathology report confirmed Stage 1 cancer, leading to months of aggressive chemotherapy. The treatment took a heavy toll, leaving her with lasting side effects, including neuropathy, extreme fatigue, PTSD, and severe dental issues. She now faces two additional procedures due to the effects of chemo.
Once a corporate recruiter for MetLife, Lisa’s experience reshaped her life. After taking time to heal, she shifted her focus to working with individuals with disabilities. Despite the challenges, she continues to move forward, alongside her son Brady and husband with strength and resilience.
